The Chinese government understands the beggar bowl mentality of many of our political leaders and they can therefore provide concessional loans with all types of strings attached. The recent outcry of Caribbean Contractors and citizens clearly show that they have now awaken from their slumber, to realise that Caribbean governments have been gullible enough to buy the programmes and projects of the Chinese, lock, stock and barrel.
There is clearly a misunderstanding of the role of the Chinese within our region. It is not done with the interest of Caribbean people at the forefront of these initiatives. China’s policy has always been expansionist in nature and the workers, which we now see on every street corner in our various countries are the first wave in a Chinese grand scheme of world commercial domination and ultimately world domination through its economic might, military strength and subservience of dominated peoples in developing countries. China is not interested in friends, but more so in domination. The world is becoming more and more dependent on cheap Chinese labour as World capital grabs for greater profit margins. No care or regard is shown for the Chinese labour force by either the Chinese government or the owners of capital. China wants to develop rapidly after decades of communist coercion and failed central planning strategies. What is the best method to gull the Western World but to adopt its market strategies and encourage investment along the Western World’s model.
The Chinese Tiger knows what it is doing. These countries in the Caribbean are ample fodder for Chinese exploitation. Chinese workers in constructing a project obtains most of its raw material from China, imports all of the workers, who then live on the construction sites in subhuman conditions, work for barely survivable wages, develop an enclave mentality and shun contact with citizens only venturing outside to sell vegetables grown around the construction sites.
The governments of the Caribbean give them an advantage over indigenous Caribbean Contractors. They do not pay taxes, national insurance nor are they unionized. Caribbean Contractors are obligated to provide various social safety nets for their workers. It is only reasoned that their costs will be higher. Caribbean People have been sidetracked in believing that because these Chinese workers work twelve (12) hour days that they are more productive than indigenous Caribbean workers. Caribbean Workers built the infrastructure in these countries and have long passed the stage of being callously exploited. Chinese workers are still treated as indentured labour in these Caribbean islands.
We the citizens of the Caribbean have a duty to defend ourselves against this servitude, which is engulfing our midst. Our history is one of the agony and pain of such abuse. We cannot for the sake of saving a dollar allow persons lives to be sacrifice in our midst. If this is allowed then we would have lost the struggle for human liberation and freedoms, which we have tried hard to built since 1838.
Caribbean people are not xenophobic but must speak out against the injustices, which are being perpetrated in our midst by the various state own construction companies of China.

Does anyone know what was agreed to between Arthur and the Chinese leadership and Arthur and Pemberton and Patterson ?
They obviously have arrangements in place but what they are we are at sea to know.
Are these Chinese workers that are here at the Paradise project are they legal or are they here illegally ??

I submitted this in a separate post for the the DLP to consider. But for the interest of our serious and constructive readers one of who is Wishing in Vain let me share this information with you because I found it myself not only interesting but scary.
A few nights ago on the TV there were a panel of high profile businessmen/women and the discussion was about the number of businesses leaving both Canada and the USA to take their operations to China. And the discussion centered around how these movers and shakers who were all CEO’s, business owners etc saw this trend effecting our Nations (Canada and the USA) economies and long term unemployment numbers.
Here was the interesting take of these experts and it made a lot of sense knowing how North Americans think.
They said the exodus of industry to places like China from North America was already running into serious problems with many of the companies involved seeing their “bottom” line diminishing and here was the reason they gave.
They say that the people of China have no confidence in the quality or the cleanliness of the products made in China and are even more aware than people in North America about some of the very dangerous toxic materials the Chinese manufacturers are using and which was recently found in Pet food and in human food sent back to this Continent. In the case of the Pet food contamination it killed hundreds of pets before the cause was discovered. Death was due to kidney failure. As a result the Chinese are insisting wherever possible to seek out and buy only products especially food products that are made in the USA and Canada along with what they can grow themselves.
The discussion then went on to suggest that North Americans are also boycotting Chinese made products for the same reason but there is a momentum gathering in North America to boycott Chinese products for other reasons. Those being.
That the people of North America because of the threat of Global warming and Climate change are themslves making great sacrifices to be environmentally responsible and to be that way we pay more taxes, and need to buy energy efficient bulbs etc. And while we are doing that China is polluting like crazy have no respect for the Kyoto accord and are doing very little to reduce green house gasses. Therefore by boycotting their products they believe they are doing their part to MAKE china reduce pollution by reducing their output because of consumers not buying them.
Plus the average North American even seniors because of obesity, diabetes, heart and stroke etc are very much into a healthy lifestyle and they refuse to buy products of any kind that can do their health harm. As a result they too will buy only products especially supplements that are made here.
As a result this think tank believes that within the next decade or sooner many of the North American plants that moved to China will have to move back to North America to survive. Interesting stuff and it makes sense to me!
But it also shows the POWER OF PEOPLE who unite for the common good of any cause something many in Barbados would be well advised to do.

So where do we go from here with this issue ?
The truth of the matter is that all those involved with this scam should be censored and fined here we have people absolutely flouting the law and employing this group of workers and we have the PM and company encouraging this illegal act they all should be fired.
What nonsense is Trotman talking that he is trying to decide if to soften his stance what a load of bull, but we have to come to grips that he is one of those caught up in the politics of inclusion and instead of fighting for workers rights the ones who pay his healty salary he is now no more than a mouth piece of King Arthur, you should be ashamed of your support of Owing at the expense of the workers of this island.
If this is your stance you to should step down from your post and let someone who really has the workers at heart take control and not you who has been sidelined by the politics of inclusion and corruption, honestly I am ashamed of you Trotman to represent me on any issue.

WIV~the next step is to hear form your revered leader on this matter. Is he able to whip up the passion of a nation on the eve on the biggest election that he will face in his political career. The issue of immigrant labor and corruption brought down the Christie government in the Bahamas recently. Has Thompson been taking notes?
I must tell you that if the jury were to deliberate now it would be brief!

This is not intended to signal my return to this blog.
However, I felt compelled to post my condolences and deepest sympathy to those who lost loved ones in the horrific bus crash yesterday.
I know that many have more questions than answers and to them I say if you believe in God ask him for the strength and mercy to help you carry the heavy load.
And to those who have loved ones recovering I pray that they all make a speedy and full recovery.
