THE FAULT IS NOT ONLY IN THEM BUT IN OWEN’S BLP

The recent events in Barbados have again demonstrated Arthur’s insensitivity to the plight of the landless Barbadian. The tough handedness in his approach to the squatting situation need not have occurred .The Democratic Labour Party has been warning the Nation about the unbridled escalating price of land . The net results of a poor land policy is only beginning to set in now in the form of squatting. Arthur has earned reputation for his lateness in intervening in matters of National interest.

As the Minister responsible for Town and Country Planning, he has failed in his duty to carry out a fair and equitable approach to the issue of land access and its subdivision process. The so called land bank has turned into a timber factory with oversight by his Lieutenant Minister. But this is not all. As Minister responsible for Information and what goes on Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, the Nation has not been told how soon the top management post will be filled as the Corporation has been without a head for some time now.

But this is typical of Arthur, who has not been able to solve major national issues as Prime Minister. His LACK of negotiation and confliction resolution skills has been displayed over and over again. This country for the last couple of years has been without a Fishing agreement with one of the most successful trading partners of the nation. The question is does Arthur really have what it takes to lead or has he been riding on a wave of fortune. There is a callousness to his behaviour and actions.

Every time our nation needs leadership there is a deafening silence from the mouth of the Prime Minister. It is apparent that he does not have a view on the future of Barbadian jobs as it refers to the proposed take over of BS& T. In recent statements, his Lieutenant Minister Clyde Mascoll has only been able to recommend that Barbados needs to have a larger population as part of our economic solutions. This follows his claim that Barbadians eat too much lunch.

But the combination of Pinky and the Brain taking over Barbados is proving to be equally difficult as it is screened on Cartoon Network. Pinky and the Brain have not locked into the agenda that is required to advance the plight of the Nation. Instead, Arthur the “Brain” is locked in a permanent political state of trying to run a country for which he never had a plan. His trade mark of political mismanagement manifested itself to its highest level when the Nation woke up to the reality of over a hundred and fifty million dollars in construction work on the New Oval and that the property was that of The Barbados Cricket Association.

His approach to the economic planning of allowing land to fetch its highest economic value has not been found in any published economic school of thought. Instead, what has been discovered are similar models of economic failure as a result of Arthur’s approach to managing the affairs of this Nation. We saw what happened when a government becomes disconnected from its people as was the case recently in St Lucia. We also saw the effects of corruption in some island states and its impact on the entire morale of the Nation.

The Nation is crying out for a social, economic and political Agenda. This agenda can be found in the corridors of the DLP. A team lead by David Thompson that has already delivered in part an agenda for rescuing our people from perpetual indulgences in mediocre governance and inept economic planning. The DLP is Ready to Deliver

  • This squatting problem can be directly linked to the influx of illegal and legal migrants into this country.

Daily barbadians were pleading with arthur and his band of cowardly misfits to temper his rush to CSME and instead put the necessary services in place, and then plan for how much non nationals this country could hold.

No way – said Owen – Bajans too xenophobic.

So the result was a shortage of housing, a run on our water supply – illegal immigrants living in discarded transport bus, also going on other people’s land and squatting – thus endangering our water supply.

The answer is for an increase in the number of immigration officers – and a crackdown on ALL illegal immigrants – as of yesterday.

Frank, thanks for sending me a copy of the comment you posted. I will respond accordingly when I read it on the DLP blog.

  • Dont give up Margaret K, you are one of us, always were. come to the conference on Sunday, where at least you would be free from that insulting blogging pest.

  • Oh Happy Day,Oh Happy Day.

This refrain from a popular negro spiritual comes to mind as I read in Today’s Nation newspaper where Mr David Thompson is reported as saying that there needs to be an investigation into Hardwood Co – and that BOB LINDQUSIT – THE CANADIAN FORENSIC AUDITOR SHOULD BE BROUGHT IN.

    WOW.

This has given me tremendous hope for when Mr Thompson takes over the running of this country – as it relates to the other high profile public projects and the beneficiaries of the government contracts etc.

    Oh happy day indeed.

  • Wishing in Vain

Yes Anonymous there is hope at the end of the tunnel, this crowd have raped our treasury in no small way and we will pay the price for years to come while Owing sits in his penthouse suite in South Beach Florida drinking a Bacardi see thru rum.

  • No wishing in vain,

    Owen will not be sitting in his penthouse in Florida drinking a barcadi;

that is IF David Thompson does what he MUST do when he wins the government – ie SEND THEM ALL TO JAIL.

  • Wishing in Vain
