OWEN MASHES UP BAJANS CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS.

Arthur has called elections in the midst of the holiday season. One must ask the question why. Would have been too late to call elections in early january to be contested on the last day of January or early september. No, not if you are owen arthur. You will call it now to frustrate the people of Barbados. You will do your dammest to spoil their celebrations. This is Own Arthur’s way. We will do anything to strangle the people of Barbados. One can only hope that they will look from behind the smoke and make a better way for Barbadians at home and aboard. OWEN ARTHUR AND HIS MERRY BAND MUST GO. ONLY THE PEOPL ECAN MAKE HIM GO.

  • Even though OS Arthur was never one of my favorite persons, I really cant see how he has mashed up Christmas for Bajans.

I would have thought that those who wish to see his departure would see his pronouncement as a Christmas gift, and thank God that he,OS Arthur, is as “Raphie Knowles” used to say when anouncing the fall of a wicket…….”HE’S ON HIS WAY!” (back to the pavillion.)

I would have thought that those who wish to see his departure would see his pronouncement as a cause for much rejoicing and glee.

    Happy Christmas to all!

  • All good wishes to David Thompson and the DLP for X’mas and the New Year. I will be praying that you wipe out Owen Arthur and his gang on January 15th. Good luck!

  • At last the bell has sounded, and its clear ring will be heard throughout the land. I am sorry that it has to be at Christmas, but it might be a portent for good.

In many a home tonight, whether it be a chattel house, at the end of a muddy lane, obscured by heavy vegetation, or an elegant belvedere on the terraces, overlooking fertile valleys. There is quiet satisfaction, that finally the people of our beloved country, will have the opportunity to exercise their democratic right.

David Thompson leader of the DLP, had the mental sharpness, and used focused strategic thinking, to back the Prime Minister into a corner. Sometime ago, I dared to suggest that David Thompson was doing everything right and time will prove that to be the case – and so it is.

The Prime Minister – Owen Arthur – was cornered, he had nowhere to go.

He had the option, of choosing a date for the general election, but the circumstances of its choosing was dictated by events, generated by David Thompson’s actions.

The Prime Minister, was therefore left, like a little boy, in a back yard, pockets bulging with marbles, bat and ball in hand, but with no one to play with. The other boys had returned to their homes – even marble cricket could not be played – and he could smell the inviting aroma of flying fish and coucou wafting through the air, as he comtemplated his fate – forgive the Bajan analogical references.

The Democratic Labour Party of Barbados, led by Mr. David Thompson, has within it, persons of ability and talent. They can stop the downward spiral that now besets our country.

We should be mindful, that through the dark and lonely days, when the DLP was written off, he stood the course, held his focus, and brought the Party round to being electable again.

I earlier said his touch was sure – I see no reason to waver from that now – and so it is. He has directed his energies on issues of importance, that can easily connect with the general public, and where there is proof beyond doubt. Did I hear you say Hardwood? Hardwood is just a leitmotif for many things. He has slit open a cancerous underbelly, and the entrails have been exposed for all to see, what was happening in our country.

I am delighted to see, among the DLP’s list of very able candidates, Mrs Irene Sandiford-Garner, a young lady of great courage, spirit and ability ,she deserves this opportunity to be elected as a member of Parliament. I can only hope that our brother and sisters of that Parish with look on her with favour, an opportunity is much deserved here.

    Now we, the hitherto:

    “invisible people”

Who have been marginalised, and side lined, treated with contempt and arrogance by this government, have our opportunity to speak, and speak we will, it is time for a change.

  • Good post.
I particularly like the paragraph ………

“The Prime Minister, was therefore left, like a little boy, in a back yard, pockets bulging with marbles, bat and ball in hand, but with no one to play with. The other boys had returned to their homes – even marble cricket could not be played – and he could smell the inviting aroma of flying fish and coucou wafting through the air, as he comtemplated his fate”

Reminds me scenes in my boyhood.

Sir dont apologize for your Bajan analogical references. After all, such references identify us and remind us who we are. Such references are essential, and must always be spoken.

When ever I go to a restaurant here in the US (though I know I wont get them) I always ask the waitress if she has mauby, or Plus, or Tiger Malt or ginger beer, and I order six flying fish. That really gives me a kick LOL

  • The DLP will take this election. However we have to be careful of some in our midst who are taking bribes from the other side.It hurt me to watch TV tonite and see our soon to be Prime Minister David Thompson exposing the BLP and then to hear in the next article that one of our own from the North was involved in it. We need to purge this party so we can go forward in strength.Long live the DLP and long live our next Prime Minister David Thompson

  • Reports from back home are that Owen Arthur has really indeed mashed up people’s Christmas by …
1- failing to control the cost of living, the prices in the supermarkets were so high that a normal Bajan Christmas lunch cost 3-5 times as would be expected.

2- by causing folk to be worrying if the BLP should win the next election whether he would officially declare a dictatorship in Barbados.

3- by totally and selfishly disregarding the spiritual aspects of Christmas and what this means to Bajans.

Bajans have no recourse now but to vote out the Bees on the basis of the foregoing, as it seems the Bees have lost all thier sensitivities.

    My failing to
